Saline Valley Water Rates
3/29/2025
Saline Valley Water District has once again raised the rates on the their customers. When I came into the position in 2022, rates had just been raised to $3.49/1,000 gallon. SVWD over the past years worth of hikes have increased those rates to $4.48/1,000 gallons. The City Council has held back for several years on making many adjustments to our rates, unfortunately, water rates, supplies, insurance and all other aspects of running a water department increase year after year have all gone up. I have posted an ordinance on this site under the Ordinances tab for everyone to see that the city has made a change in rates. Over these past several years, the City of Shawneetown has had the cheapest water and sewer rates in most of southeastern Illinois. I have talked with many municipalites from several counties in our area and, even with these increases, we still have the lowest rates in the county and nearly the lowest in the entire area.

Applications are downloadable on the website or can be obtained at City Hall. All projects must be approved by the Council before and after construction for reimbursement.
